Weary Traveler

Updated: Aug 24, 2022

We recently wrapped up our school supply drive here at the station. When it was time to pack the bags, we were still short a few items, and in looking around the office supply store at school supplies, I came across book covers made of stretchy fabric in bright colors. When I was in school the book covers were brown paper bags cut to fit - way back before they ever even asked the question “paper or plastic?”

The reason we need book covers is because those same books are used each year for new sets of students and they get worn out! Simply cover it up and it looks fantastic.

Sometimes we’re like that old book. We may look okay on the outside but be worn out on the inside. I’m grateful for God’s Word that promises us that this life is not all there is, and that when I’m feeling overwhelmed by the here and now, I can find a fresh start and hope in Him.

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” -Lamentations 3:21-24
